About the
Gentlemen
Two friends who have been finishing each other's worse jokes since long before podcasts existed. This is the editorial page — read it slowly.
Not Saturday. Not Morning.
The show is called Your Saturday Morning BJ, which has — by our own count — never once been recorded on a Saturday morning. We blame logistics, weather, and the steady drift of adult life. We do not blame each other, at least not on microphone.
A long, slow conversation.
No script. No producer. No segment timer ticking down. Each episode is whatever was on our minds that week — travel, work, the small indignities of being a person, and the occasional internet rabbit hole we couldn't climb out of.
You, apparently.
This is a private personal archive masquerading as a podcast. There's no newsletter, no comment section, no algorithm to feed. Just a beautifully filed cabinet of conversations between two friends. We're glad you're here.
Bret
Will build a rigorous economic framework for your question, get bored halfway through, and say anyway, doesn't matter. Owns uranium ETFs unironically.
Bret will take the contrarian position, build an airtight case for it, get bored, and drop it entirely. Loves economics, Batman, and data warehousing — in an order that changes depending on the day. Believes brevity is the soul of wit, which makes the long episodes his fault.
Juan
Has lived in nine cities across four countries. Keeps moving, keeps writing, keeps playing soccer, keeps starting Python and stopping.
Juan is the one who brings the topic and somehow ends up with three more by the end. Writer by training, athlete by compulsion, technologist by accident. Has lived in Argentina, Spain, Ireland, and across the US — and still can't fully explain why.
"We started this show because we kept having the same conversation on the phone, and figured we might as well press record."
A Brief Field Guide
- Why is it called Your Saturday Morning BJ?
- Because we meant to record on Saturday mornings. We did not. The name stayed. We've made peace with it.
- How often do new episodes come out?
- Whenever the calendar, the wifi, and the stars align. Subscribe in your head — we'll let you know.
- Is there a topic you won't cover?
- Cryptocurrency, mostly. And anything either of us could be sued for. Otherwise: open season.
- Can I be a guest?
- No, but thank you. This one's just for us. There's a private dinner instead, if we know you.
Go listen to something.
The archive is right where you'd expect it. Filed by date, sorted by topic, never on a Saturday.
